Upcycled Silk Jewelry Bags

A fellow artisan asked me awhile ago if I could make some travel jewelry bags for her to give as gifts.  I had made one once, and it didn’t quite come out as I’d hoped.  But I told her I would try.  Recently I finally sat down to make a pattern (after studying the construction of these bags in some photos).  I figured out that the mistake the first time was that my circles were too small, so I made these ones much bigger.  My fellow artisan chose the fabrics for the first bag, but then she gave me free reign for the other three she wanted.  After much fiddling (and figuring out how to fix a small mistake I’d made), I perfected the first bag.

So then I went on to pick out fabrics and complete the other three.  Two of them are made from thrifted silk fabrics, and the other two are from cotton fabrics.  One is from thrifted vintage sheet fabric.  😀

The silk in this last bag is a jewel-toned green with jewel-toned purple stripes.  The silk lining is a dark, rich purple.  I could NOT get the colours right in the photos.

I have one more show this year; it is part of an open house at a local yoga centre.  The owners are kindly showcasing local artisans for their Open House.
